Let’s go to the mountains today, I said.

“Where in the mountains?” she asked.

Well, I said -- you know how we’re always doing something on the weekends, rushing to get somewhere?

“Yes,” she said.

Today, let’s not do that. Let’s wander and get lost. Let’s not plan to be back any time. Let's talk and sing all the way there and all the way back. Let’s just stop the car somewhere in the mountains and explore.

“How will we know we’ve found the right kind of place?” she asked.

We'll know it, I said. And we did.

These sorts of days are my favorite memories with my dad. I love that you see the value in them. :)
